To honor traditional Chinese culture and create a festive atmosphere filled with joy and harmony, the Graduate Student Association of the Schoolof Life Sciences and Biotechnology hosted an exciting Lantern Festival celebration on February 23, 2024 in the college's first-floor lobby. The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Jinxiang Li, Secretary of the School Youth League Committee and Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office; Feng Yan, Dean of the Schoolof Life Sciences and Biotechnology; Jianping Gu, Secretary of the Party Committee; and Yanhong Zhang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Teachers and students gathered to participate in activities such as cutting lanterns, guessing lantern riddles and eating yuanxiao, and spent an unforgettable Yuanxiao Festival together.

The lanterns featuring designs ranging from dragons and flowers to the auspicious Chinese character for "fortune", made through the process of hand-drawing, gluing, threading ropes and installing lamps.  Each lantern not only expressed the hopes and blessings of the college community for a prosperous future but also showcased the beauty of traditional culture. Tailored to the features of the biological discipline, solving lantern riddles that incorporate professional terms like "experimental instruments" and "experimental techniques" proves both enjoyable and educational. Teachers and students engage in lively discussions and friendly competition, fostering an energetic atmosphere during the event.

Through this Lantern Festival celebration, students and faculty of the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology not only enjoyed a festive occasion but also deepened their understanding and appreciation of traditional culture, fostering stronger connections and lasting memories. May this spirit of unity, wisdom, and creativity continue to guide them as they embrace new challenges and opportunities in the Year of the Dragon. Here's to a year filled with progress in research, academic achievements, and personal growth for all members of the college community!
